It is the end of October and this has been a super busy month for me. In the UK the month of October is usually set aside to celebrate Black History, so it was good to listen all through the month to various speakers organised at my workplace to speak on a range of topics showcasing the rich black history we have all around us.

I have always wanted to attend trooping the colour parade that happens in June ever year to mark Queen Elizabeth II birthday and on this sunny day 1st June 2019, I was fortunate to obtain three tickets. I went with my daughter and sister, and we made it a girl’s day out into London.

I have not written in a bit, because the new year started with sad news coming from everywhere; the extension of the lockdown due to covid, increase number of people testing positive with covid and deaths of friends loved ones which seemed to be happening back-to-back.

I wanted to end a very unusual year on a light note. 2020 being a leap year, I started it with a bit of caution, which is the way I have treated previous leap years; My experience with leap years is that they are loaded with a little bit extra than a normal year, but even for me 2020 was totally unexpected.
