The Travelling Bug

The Travelling Bug

I love travelling and when I do my camera goes with me. it is always carefully packed within my hand luggage as a vital travel necessity.

One of my pleasures of travelling, is visiting some beautiful places in the world that maybe I read about or watched on TV as a child. I can honestly say with certainty that I was a very curious and adventurous child, I am definitely sure my mum gave up on me sitting in one place by the time I was five 😊 because all I wanted to do even at such a young age was to explore and go places.

I caught the travelling bug at quite a young age, and this is largely due to the fact I grew up in a home where travelling to different locations was commonplace. I still have my first international passport that showed I travelled to the United Kingdom and France with my family when I was just two and half years old, I may not really remember much of the trip, but I have my stamped passport and photos to prove to me I went to these places.

Therefore, it was not a surprise I wanted to see more places on my own as soon as I had the opportunity to. Funny enough in the year 2000 I got to travel to loads of beautiful locations in Nigeria with my first job as an auditor and I was totally blessed just seeing places like the point where River Niger merge with River Benue in Lokoja, Kogi State, the breath taking landscape of Enugu state in the East, the peacefulness of Niger state in the North, the richness of Benue state in the Middle belt, seeing the broad history the South-West states such as Oyo possessed and the uniqueness of Abuja the capital of Nigeria.

One of my memorable location and dear to my heart is Cape Town, South Africa. I had the absolute fortune of spending my honeymoon in this beautiful and breath-taking city. It was a package trip and this made it even extra special because the tour took us to some of the amazing sights you can imagine, such as the iconic and majestic Table mountain and Cape of Good Hope with it stunning and clear blue beaches. The photos I was able to capture of those attractive locations are still fresh in my mind and brings a smile to my face whenever I think of it.

Park inn the hotel we stayed in, ticked my 3 Cs’ it was comfortable, clean and had character, if my husband did not booked us on the tour package I could have stayed in that hotel room for days 😊 that is not a lie. The hotel ambience was world class, the food was delicious and right in front of our hotel there was a market that had a life of its own where you could buy literally anything, I am not joking.

In Cape Town we also got to visit notable wineries and Jewelry shops where we got to see how diamonds are made. While at a diamond shop the tour guide hinted to the newlyweds on the tour to hopefully come back in ten years’ time and get an upgrade on our existing rings, fair to say the husbands were not looking comfortable with that suggestion 😊.

As another wedding anniversary comes up around this time in August, I remember the sweet memories of starting my married life in such a gorgeous location and I want to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to my husband @Omo, that understood my love to travel and visit new places. The moment he knew I had never been to South Africa, he put things in place to make it happen and even after begin married for a bit now he still supports my love of making memories with my travels.

Thank you for walking with me down this extra special memory and hoping you can make some lasting memories with the ones you love, trust me it will come in handy when life happens and you need something to remind you of care-free days.
