I have always wanted to attend trooping the colour parade that happens in June ever year to mark Queen Elizabeth II birthday and on this sunny day 1st June 2019, I was fortunate to obtain three tickets. I went with my daughter and sister, and we made it a girl’s day out into London.
We took the train into London, and we dressed up for the part. It was a good day to attend trooping the colour, the sun was out, and I was just excited to see the display of soldiers on foot and some on theirs horses.
Trooping the colour was held on Horse Guards Parade and we walked down the Mall to gain entrance into the venue. There was a crowd, but everything was well organised and not long after arriving at the point where our tickets were scanned to gain admittance, we found our seats and were ready for the parade to start.
The parade was reviewed by HRH the Duke of York, and this proceeded with various marching bands and beautiful carriages moving in perfect rhythm. We were not disappointed and really impressed with the display of the soldier’s discipline. The entire parade reminded me about the parades I grew seeing back home in Nigeria, where the display of the armed forces and the marching band was a sight to behold, and you do not get tired watching them marching in tune with the commands and band music.
I would have loved to attend another trooping the colour again this year, but because of the current situation this will have to wait for another time. Until then I will just look at the photos from this beautiful sunny day in 2019 and hope for happier days when we can just appreciate the beauty all around us.
Beautiful memories! Hopefully soon, we’ll be back with such events
Yes, cannot wait. Thank you for your comment.
